Movie Review: “Operation Rock The Troops” Is A Rocking Documentary About Achieving Goals By Giving Back And Serving Others

[yasr_overall_rating]

One man’s ambition takes him on an unexpected journey to create a unique performance and mission that will change his life forever. A group of musicians and models are assembled carefully to put on his ‘Runway Rock Show’ concept with the simple goal to hand out over 100,000 copies of their CD to the U.S. Military personally.

“Operation Rock the Troops” is a documentary about setting big goals and achieving them by giving back and serving others. The film shows the dedication, the hard work, the team building and networking involved in reaching the goals. You would expect that in an inspirational documentary and director Matthew JC delivers in this project like his all-stars delivered to the troops.

The film also documents the hard times and the obstacles that were in the way. It wasn’t easy. Canceled tour dates, the death of a bandmate, having to replace band members, and the logistics of traveling, planning and setting up a show.

The film does highlight the JC All Stars. The documentary highlights several original songs the band created along the way. The models are represented well in the film. The concert clips show the troops enjoying the entertainment. The All Stars obviously brought entertainment and a taste of home to the troops stationed far from their homes. Make no mistake, the documentary’s focus is on Matthews JC chasing his dream.

I would have liked to have seen more on how the troops felt about the All Stars. It would have been interesting to see how being in the All Stars propelled the careers of the band members and models. In some ways it feels like the film was promoting Matthew JC. He is coming out with a book about his experience.

The documentary might be filled with self-promotion, however, the film does show if you chase your dreams you can fulfill most of them. Along the way he certainly discovers what dreams and goals are the most important. The message of believing in yourself is so important and delivered strongly. Reaching your goals through serving others is incredible! The 86 minute film is worth the time to get inspired!

Thank you so much for the review of our movie! I appreciate it as our journey is just beginning with so many tours now booked! The interview did mention you wish you could have seen more about the troops, and the reason for it was that some of the interviews we captured were in areas we could not show on film. But if you would like to see some testimonials about what the troops thought of us, simply click on this link to youtube and check out more YouTube videos(search YouTube: Operation Rock The Troops) showing how we now give… Read more »

I’m very proud to say I have worked on projects with the JC Allstars for years. It is a beautiful operation and I love giving back to our troops. I’m so thankful to have found a great family that not only supports Matthew and his dreams but as well as mine. I have found his drive and inspiration admirable and can’t say thank you enough. I can’t wait for the next film which will be more focused on how Matthews dreams have fullfiled so many others myself and the troops included. Thank you for the review Mike Spain!

Your article couldn’t be more aligned with the motive of this documentary. How can anyone explain an experience except from their own perspective? I found the movie to be surprisingly provocative and stimulating, explaining an industry where it is easy to become side tracked by the lack luster promises of fame built on talent alone. It explains how one can overcome that addiction through a clear choice of service to others while still being amusing enough to warrant a chuckle or two.

Kudos on the article and movie.

I just wanna say as a retired Navy Corpsman and lead vocalist for the band Vetted (First nationally recognized wounded warrior band) I spent last weekend with JC as we visited Fort Carson in Colorado. JC is truly dedicated to helping troop related organizations. While at the USO during our performance. JC spent time with the troops and gave away a plethora of CD to the soldiers onboard Carson. His mission is real, as is he. Thank you JC for helping us try to take care of our family of warriors. Hoorah!!!

As I watched this movie, i thought about 9/11…. Many of us pledged to make time for family , friends, and our country . The JCAllstars did more than pledge , they did it. This documentary shows the long and difficult journey they endured to support our troops through their music. It was good to see the struggles as well as the reward of the smiles on the faces of those they entertained . JC made his vision come alive.

Very inspiring! It’s still amazes me to see people do something instead of just talk about it! All of u deserve all the recognition in the world for being about it. The troops need more great people like you and the world would be a better place!! Awesome job at everything from the start!
