Comic Book Review: “The Night Owl Society” Is A Mob-Chasing Hoot

[yasr_overall_rating]

High school students fight the mob without getting killed or grounded. A new comic that’s “The Breakfast Club” meets “The Sopranos.”

Five nerdy students gather by default to become crime fighters and go against a local member of the Mob who has taken one of their own. While it seems unimaginable, it is the underlying theme of the new Comic Book “Night Owl Society.” The three-part series has just launched its first edition and was immediately picked up by IDW, one of the largest producers of comic books. The creator, James Venhaus, a well-known Dallas playwright and High School Theatre Teacher, has collaborated with Lithuanian artist Pius Bak, to launch an interesting and timely, episodic masterpiece. In his own words, Venhaus has parlayed his experience with youth and his own quirkiness into an interesting outreach concept that is taking the comic world one teen hero at a time.

Just in time for Free Comic Book Day, Venhaus is making local Dallas-area appearances to introduce his Comic Book thriller, as well as to enhance the idea of acceptance amongst youth in spite of their differences. Check local Comic Book outlets and be on the lookout for Issue 2 which launches May 17th and Issue 3 which launches June 10th.
