XLrator Media Acquires “The Giant Killer” & “Where Have You Gone, Lou DiMaggio?” For North American Distribution

On the heels of its acclaimed 2017 documentary slate, including “The Legend of 420,” “Spirit Game: Pride of a Nation,” “Man in the Camo Jacket,” “Who the F**k Is That Guy?” and “Uncle Gloria,” XLrator Media announced the acquisition of two new feature documentaries that will be released on its “LIFEFRAME” label in early 2018.

“The Giant Killer”
Directed by David Yuzuk
Produced by David Yuzuk and Peter Spirer
Release date: February 20th
XLrator Media will co-release with Rugged Entertainment

What started out as a documentary about a homeless Vietnam War veteran and decorated hero turned into something much more complex when Richard Flaherty was killed in a suspicious hit-and-run accident. Dubbed by his peers “The Giant Killer,” Flaherty was only 4 feet 9 inches tall, the smallest person to serve in the US military. He rose to the rank of a Special Forces Green Beret Captain and was awarded the Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, and 2 Purple Hearts for his 2 tours in Vietnam. However, his post-war life was shrouded in mystery, danger, and espionage.

“Where Have You Gone, Lou DiMaggio?”
Directed by Brad Kuhlman
Produced by Allison Gorelik and Wendy Kuhlman
Featuring Larry David, Colin Quinn, Ray Romano, Susie Essman, Joy Behar, Howie Mandel, Richard Belzer, Jeff Garlin, Kevin Meany and reintroducing Lou DiMaggio
Release date: March 9th

From 1985 to 1989, Lou DiMaggio (no relation to baseball legend Joe DiMaggio) was a regular at the iconic Catch a Rising Star comedy club in New York City. For four years, Lou worked alongside of and made lasting friendships with a small group of comedians who are today some of the very best in the business. Larry David, Colin Quinn, Suzie Essman, Joy Behar, Jeff Garlin, Ray Romano and Howie Mandel are just a few of Lou’s old pals who appear in the film. After moving to Los Angeles in 1989 to pursue acting, Lou stopped doing stand-up comedy forever. Today, Lou is an Emmy-winning writer for television. He makes a quiet, modest living, but a deeply repressed passion for doing stand-up is beginning to emerge from Lou’s comedy hiatus. “Where Have You Gone, Lou DiMaggio?” follows Lou as he seeks advice from his celebrity friends about his return to comedy. Can Lou rediscover his comedic voice and once again become relevant in the world of comedy?

“There’s never been a more exciting time for documentary filmmaking, and our goal is to make LIFEFRAME the top curated releasing label for documentaries around the world. These two new acquisitions to our diverse and growing slate will enthrall audiences with their fascinating true stories, compelling personalities, and inspirational messages,” said XLrator Media CEO Barry Gordon.

Previous LIFEFRAME releases include “Queen Mimi,” “It’s So Easy and Other Lies,” “Spirit Game: Pride of a Nation,” “The Legend of 420,” “She Makes Comics,” “Man in the Camo Jacket,” “Uncle Gloria,” “Red White Black & Blue Odyssey,” “Mateo” and “Deconstructing Dani Garcia.”
