“Twin Peaks” Returning To TV In 2016

twin peaks

When “Twin peaks” premiered on TV back in 1990, it was unlike any other show in the history of TV. Although the show ended in 1991, it pulled viewers in with its creepy and obscure atmosphere, thanks in part to co-creator, David Lynch (“Eraserhead”, “Blue Velvet”) and his outlandish and atypical approach to filmmaking. The show starred Kyle MacLachlan as FBI agent Dale Cooper, who is sent to the Pacific Northwest town of Twin Peaks to investigate the murder of a high school girl named Laura Palmer.

In 1992, Lynch directed a feature-length film called “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me” which furthered the events of the show but ultimately, disappeared without trace. Over the years however, a new generation of fans have discovered the show thanks to its release on DVD. The new series will have a total of nine episodes that Lynch will direct and original co-creator Mark Frost (“Hill Street Blues”) will produce. The show will air on Showtime sometime next year.
