TITAS Presents To Receive Grant From The National Endowment For The Arts

TITAS Presents announced today that it has been selected to receive an Art Works grant from The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).

Art Works grants support projects that focus on the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, public engagement with diverse and excellent art, lifelong learning in the arts, and/or the strengthening of communities through the arts.

“We are thrilled to be one of seven Dallas arts organizations approved for NEA funding,” said Charles Santos, TITAS Presents executive director/artistic director. “TITAS Presents recognizes the distinctive, transformative effects of experiencing excellent art. We are proud to serve the North Texas community by bringing the world’s most intriguing artists to Dallas and are grateful for the NEA’s support of our work.”

This Art Works grant to TITAS Presents is in support of the presentation of four outstanding American dance artists and related education and engagement activities as part of its international series. Artists include Chicago’s Lucky Plush Productions, L.A. Dance Project, San Francisco’s Alonzo King LINES Ballet, and New York City’s Parsons Dance. Each company will lead free open-to-the-public modern dance classes and take part in post-performance conversations between the artistic directors, dancers, and members of the audience.

Last week, the NEA announced that NEA Chairman Jane Chu had approved more than $25 million in grants as part of the NEA’s first 2018 funding cycle. “It is energizing to see the impact that the arts are making throughout the United States. These NEA-supported projects, such as this one to TITAS Presents, are good examples of how the arts build stronger and more vibrant communities, improve well-being, prepare our children to succeed, and increase the quality of our lives,” said Chu. “At the National Endowment for the Arts, we believe that all people should have access to the joy, opportunities, and connections the arts bring.”
