“The Six Billion Dollar Man” Coming To Screens In 2016

Mark Wahlberg and director Peter Berg collaborated on the critically acclaimed and box office winner, “Lone Survivor” and according to Deadline, they are re-teaming for the feature-film version of “The Six Billion Dollar Man.” The hit TV show, “The Six Million Dollar Man”, which was based on the novel ‘Cyborg’ by Martin Caidin, ran from 1974 to 1978 and made a star and household name out of Lee Majors who played the titular role of Steve Austin, an astronaut who almost dies in an experimental aircraft crash. After losing most of his limbs, they are replaced with bionic implants and he becomes a super-human who goes to work for the fictional government agency, OSI.

Mr. Berg has proved very adept at directing big action spectacles such as “Battleship” and “Hancock” while Mr. Wahlberg has the necessary acting chops to pull off both drama (“The Departed”) and action (“Transformers: Age of Extinction”). Production is looking to get underway soon with a release date of 2016. It seems like a no-brainer that the Bionic Woman could make an appearance and if the movie is successful, she could get her own spin-off movie, just like she got her own spin-off show which ran from 1976 to 1978. And of course, original Bionic Man Lee Majors could always make an appearance.

“Necessary acting chops”? We talking about the same actor here?

Indeed we are. For an action-themed movie, there are a lot worse actors out there.
