“Off The Rack” Film Competition Hits Texas Theatre

“Off the Rack” film competition started last year as a spinoff of Rack Focus. The idea behind it was to allow greater freedom for short films to compete and win recognition. This year’s event took place on Monday, January 4th, and featured several Rack Focus films, as well as a few new entries. The winners included “Deranged” by John Charles-Dickson: Gold Award; “Bad Day” by Glenn Franklin and Duane Chapman: Silver Award; “Last Kill” by Jaime Tatos Maldonado and Domenique Smith: Critic’s Choice Award; Prabhakar Kumar, Best Actor from “Kumar and Jen Go to Dinner”; and Tyi Johnson, Best Actress from “Kumar and Jen Go to Dinner”. I spoke with organizer and filmmaker Glenn Franklin about where the event might be headed in the future.
