Movie Review: “Watch The Sunset” Is A Gripping Tale Of Ruthless Rescue And Ultimate Redemption

In a single afternoon a man comes to grips with the power of his past when his estranged family becomes tangled in its web.

One of my favorite elements of a good movie is its ability to hook you right from the start. The range of emotion and expression in the first few minutes of “Watch the Sunset” grips us from the get-go, and from the first scene I’m ready to watch the entire movie.

Australian power house duo Tristan Barr and Damien Lipp with BarrLipp production company present “Watch the Sunset,” a cold-hearted story of a warm-hearted man who leaves an oppressive lifestyle of ruthless debauchery, only to be cast back into it and must force his way out.

Following some heart-wrenching interviews of people affected by Crystal Meth and Ice, we buckle into the car of Danny (Tristan Barr), who on the outside seems like a battered, heartless human but on the inside has a tender heart of gold. In the backseat is a beaten and drugged woman, her future unknown. Danny forces her into a hotel room and runs out, leaving us hanging, as well as the drugged lady. He catches up with Sally (Chelsea Zeller), the long-lost love of his life, who is desperately avoiding him and sheltering their daughter, Joey (Annabelle Williamson) from the evil of the world. Danny is finally able to tell her that he is leaving his life behind, he’s rescued and saved a girl from prostitution, and he’s ready to be a family man and a devoted father. While Danny is confessing his story to Sally, his old gang members kidnap Joey, calling Danny back to his hostile environment in order to rescue her. Danny is determined and ruthless to save his daughter and protect his family from harm, and he’ll do whatever it takes to defend them.

“Watch the Sunset” will twist your heart and squeeze out all your emotions, and will have you rooting for Danny and his family ‘til the end. The film portrays such sensational expression and genuine emotion, we feel as though we are there, wielding a gun and breaking down the doors in order to save those we love. The acting is terrific, especially from our three leading characters, the lighting and music intriguing and captivating. The cinematography is both raw and engaging, pulling us in purposefully by the “one shot concept,” long and drawn out shots without any cuts. It tells us the story in a unique way, and holds our attention until the end. The themes of courage, forgiveness, revenge and sacrificial love are evident and beautifully portrayed. It reminds us that all stories must be told, that in the prison of a dark past, a hero can still arise.

“Watch the Sunset” will be released later in the year. For more information, please visit the Official Website
