Movie Review: “Skybound” Propels Its Way To New Horizons In This Action Thriller

Five plane passengers are unable to land after a mysterious disaster happened on the ground.

A slight breeze can be soothing at times & the wind sometimes friendly. However, the wind can also become dangerous. That’s exactly what happens when you’re “Skybound.” This film is an action thriller following the lives of five friends. This Alex Tavakoli movie centers around the Parker brothers, Matt (Rick Cosnett) & Kyle (Gavin Stenhouse) who are two well-endowed men. They come from wealth and are living the lifestyle of the rich. With wealth comes luxury and on this December weekend, Matt has decided to surprise his date Lisa (Scarlett Byrne) with a weekend getaway. Matt’s quite the romantic!

Accompanied by friends Odin (Tyler Fayose) & Roxy (Carla Pimentel), Matt & Lisa arrive at the airport to depart for their trip. Kyle being the wonderful man of wealth he is, meets them at the airport as well. However, Kyle is only there to return the plane keys to big brother Matt. Things begin to get a little crazy when Kyle has to join the trip due to the airport requiring the plane have two pilots. The Parker brothers relationship is a sibling bromance for the ages. This movie is filled with twists and turns before becoming hostile when the passengers stumble upon an unexpected stowaway. That’s when things become officially “Skybound.”

This film is wonderful at creating suspense. Things can become predictable with the plane being the main setting of the film, but that pitfall is avoided. I think the director made good use of multiple aspects of the plane. By using different segments they were able to keep things interesting throughout. Things should always flow freely when you’re skybound and this film is no different. “Skybound” hits its mark and becomes a good film by always evolving the storyline and never becoming stagnant.

Available on VOD Tuesday, November 7th
