“Miles” Blasts His Way Into Theaters & VOD June 9

Freestyle Digital Media, the recently-acquired Digital Film Distribution division of Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios, has acquired the North American rights to Nathan Adloff’s highly-anticipated motion picture “Miles.” The film stars Tim Boardman, Molly Shannon, and Paul Reiser, with Stephen Root and Missi Pyle rounding out the cast. The film will be released in domestic theaters and on all digital platforms on June 9th.

The film has been honored with 6 awards including the Audience Award at Outfest, Los Angeles.

Loosely based on co-writer, director Adloff’s high school experience, “Miles” tells the story of a young man (Boardman) who after discovering his recently deceased father had squandered his tuition fund and desperate to get out of his small town joins the girls’ volleyball team to earn a college scholarship. With the support of his coach (Pyle), accepting yet eccentric Mother (Shannon) and his online community of friends, Miles challenges the gender stereotypes with his courage and belief in his dreams inspiring all those around him.

“Miles” was written by Adloff & Justin D.M. Palmer and is produced by Ash Christian, Anne Clements, Stephen Israel, Devon Schneider, and Lisa G. Black.

The deal was negotiated by Chris Charalambous, Head of Acquisitions of Freestyle, and by Michael Favelle. CEO and founder of Odin’s Eye Entertainment (OEE) on behalf of the filmmakers.

“’Miles’ is a non-formulaic film with equal amounts laughs and pulled heart strings,” said Charalambous. “With a compelling story, great cast and festival buzz, it is a great acquisition for Freestyle.”

“It is very refreshing to see an openly gay leading character in a film where the plot is not built around this part of his life,” said Favelle (also an Exec Producer) who elaborated that, “Miles is comfortable in his own skin and is not defined by his sexuality; which is frankly something we should see more of in screen storytelling today.”

Adloff added: “This film is inspired by my life and is highly personal to me. It is a relatable story that I believe will have an impact on anyone who has ever been thrown a curveball in life. I couldn’t be more thrilled that Freestyle is championing ‘Miles’ and pushing it as one of their biggest releases to date.”

Recent Freestyle titles include the animated feature “Hell & Back” starring Nick Swardson, Mila Kunis, and Bob Odenkirk, “The Girl in the Book” with Emily VanCamp and Michael Nyqvist, “DivineAccess” with Billy Burke, Shari Shahi and Patrick Warburton, the Cinderella tale “After the Ball” starring Portia Doubleday and Chris Noth, and “Three Night Stand” starring Emmanuelle Chriqui.
