Lightwire Theater’s ‘A Very Electric Christmas’ At The Winspear Opera House Sunday, January 1, 2017

The nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center is thrilled to announce that tickets for Lightwire Theater’s ‘A VERY ELECTRIC CHRISTMAS’ will go on sale Friday, October 7th at 10am. Since bursting to national acclaim after appearing as semi-finalists on ‘America’s Got Talent’ and winning the top honors on TRU TV’s ‘Fake Off,’ Lightwire Theater has gone on to enthrall audiences worldwide with their unique combination of skill and grace as told through the technological innovations of moving light characters. People of all ages will be captivated by the dazzling visuals and unique menagerie of characters that magically appear out of the darkness. Combining the arts of puppetry, theater and dance with the music of timeless holiday hits, this magical and captivating tale of family, friendship and hope creates a truly one-of-a-kind, inspired and exhilarating holiday experience that will be a treasured memory for years to come.

Lightwire Theater’s ‘A VERY ELECTRIC CHRISTMAS’ will perform at 4pm on Sunday, January 1st, 2017 at the Winspear Opera House in the downtown Dallas Arts District.

Ticket prices for Lightwire Theater’s ‘A VERY ELECTRIC CHRISTMAS’ range from $99 to $15 and can be purchased, beginning on October 7th at 10am, online at www.attpac.org, by phone at 214-880-0202 or in person at the AT&T Performing Arts Center Winspear Opera House Box Office at 2403 Flora Street. The Box Office will be open 10am – 6pm seven days a week and before performances.

IAN CARNEY (Creator, Artistic Director and Choreographer) is best known for his long run in Billy Joel and Twyla Tharp’s musical Movin’ Out on Broadway. Born in New Hampshire and raised in New Orleans, he started dancing as a child, studying ballet in New Orleans and in New York City. He danced lead roles in The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty and many other ballets, as well as being a guest dancer, teacher and choreographer in companies across the United States. While still performing, Ian earned a degree in English Literature from Tulane University. He is the co-creator of Dino-Light, the family show that continues to delight audiences around the world. Ian has appeared on television with Lightwire Theater on Season 7, semi-finals of America’s Got Talent and TF1’s talent show The Best: Le Meilleur Artiste show in France.

ELEANOR B. CARNEY (Director) Originally from New Orleans, Eleanor began her dance training with Harvey Hysell and Joseph Giaccobbe. She graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BFA in Dance and a BA in Anthropology. She has danced professionally with Indianapolis Ballet Theater, and the Lexington, Northwest Florida, Delta Festival and Montgomery Ballets. Career highlights include dancing Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty, Desdemona in The Moor’s Pavane, the title roles in Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, Giselle and Coppelia, and of course, the Sugarplum Fairy in The Nutcracker. Mrs. Carney was delighted to appear with Lightwire Theater on Season 7, semi-finals of America’s Got Talent and TF1’s talent show The Best: Le Meilleur Artiste show in France.

CORBIN POPP (Co-Creator) is from Lincoln, Nebraska. He earned a degree in biochemistry at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, while also studying math, physics and dance. Opting for dance, Corbin performed in The Phantom of the Opera and Billy Joel and Twyla Tharp’s Movin’ Out on Broadway. He has toured throughout the United States with many shows, and all over Europe with Tharp’s dance company. Corbin speaks German, studied in Germany on a Fulbright scholarship and recently graduated from dental school, yet still continues to perform and collaborate with Lightwire Theater.

CAST BIOS

CALVIN JAMES ROWE (Ensemble) a native of Muscatine, IA, he began dancing professionally in 2007 with Of Moving Colors Productions, Baton Rouge’s premier modern dance company, working with such choreographers as Christine Chrest, Garland Goodwyn-Wilson, Scott Putnam (of Amaranth Dance), Netta Yerushalmy (of the Doug Varone Dance Company), Irine Rampino and Gina Bashour (Palissimo Dance). Mr. Rowe has also been a guest artist with Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre as well as a guest artist with TALK Dance Co., a contemporary dance company based in Pueblo, Colorado, performing a modern version of Romeo and Juliet under the direction and choreography of Stephen Wynne. Mr. Rowe most recently danced three seasons with Ballet Quad Cities, performing in such ballets as Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Dracula by choreographers Courtney Lyon and Deanna Carter. Calvin is thrilled to now be a part of Lightwire Theater.

IAN BLANCO (Ensemble) is happy to make his debut with Lightwire Theater. A New Orleans native and recent graduate of the Wright State acting program, he was most recently seen with Tulane Summer Lyric Theatre in La Cage aux Folles as Mercedes and Kiss Me Kate as Gremio. Other professional work includes Dreamgirls, Pirates! and Chicago as the Master of Ceremonies with The Muny, St. Louis. Ragtime! as Houdini and White Christmas with Atlanta Lyric Theatre. He’s also SAFD certified in stage combat and a proud Eagle Scout. Love you, family!

JESSICA TZUR (Ensemble) has always been drawn to various types of movement. In 2005, she found her niche when she began training at the San Francisco School of Circus Arts. She studied under top trainers, Elena Panova and Xia Ki Min, specializing in trapeze and acrobatics among other circus skills. Jessica has been performing in San Francisco and New Orleans in cabaret, variety, and burlesque shows. She also shares her love of movement with others as a Pilates instructor. Jessica is thrilled about the opportunity to work on this show!

JOHNATHON WHALEN (Ensemble) a New Orleans native has been a member of Lightwire Theater for three years, performing in New Orleans at The National World War II Museum, Le Petit Theatre, Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts, and the Jefferson Performing Arts Society. He has a BS in Athletic Training from Southeastern Louisiana University and has also done set design and construction for several New Orleans theaters.
