“Jurassic World” Surprised Many When It Successfully Rebooted The Franchise – Will The Sequel Continue The Good Work?

The original “Jurassic Park” film which featured Northern Ireland-born actor Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant, was a rip-roaring success and, adjusted for inflation, generated a worldwide gross of $769 million. The 1993 film was an absolute classic, and when it was announced that the franchise would be rebooted in 2015 with “Jurassic World,” many people were skeptical. But the version for modern audiences, directed by Colin Trevorrow, turned out to be one of the most successful films of all time and raked in over $1.6 billion in worldwide box office revenue. Here we examine how a pre-existing audience made it so successful, and discuss whether the sequel can live up to the reboot.

Pre-existing Audience

One of the major reasons why “Jurassic World” was such a significant hit and the fourth-highest grossing film of all time, was the fact that it opened to a pre-existing audience. Ever since the 1993 film by Steven Spielberg, viewers have been hungry for more dinosaur action. Although “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” and “Jurassic Park III” didn’t do quite as well at the box office as the original, with a combined revenue of $970 million, they were still massive cash cows. And other aspects of the franchise have also done incredibly well, such as the online slot game.

Even prior to the release of “Jurassic World,” the “Jurassic Park” online slot game was absolutely thriving. The Microgaming product had just been voted as the Digital Product of the Year at the Global Gaming Awards because of its innovative use of parallax scrolling effects. This was something which had never been done before in this genre and was considered a huge step in a new direction for the online casino game. The 5-reel slot game can be played at 32Red slots, where there are a number of other games based on films as well, such as “Hitman” and “Tomb Raider.” The online casino industry rakes in over $47 billion each year, which highlights just how many people play games like the “Jurassic Park” slot at 32Red. These players, along with fans of the earlier films will have contributed to the massive audience figures for the release of “Jurassic World” in cinemas.

Promising Factors

While most sequels tend not to do as well as the originals – something which was evident with the previous “Jurassic Park” films – there is a chance that “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” can carry on where its predecessor left off. This is because that pre-existing audience which was discussed earlier is still there, and if anything will have increased since the last film. Now, in addition to the “Jurassic Park” slot game, there is also a “Jurassic World” online slot, which can be played for free at SlotsUp. If players want a chance of winning money, though, they could play the game at Slotty Vegas and stake money on the reels. As well as the online casino games, there are also mobile offerings which are played by a vast number of players as well, such as “Jurassic Park Builder.” All of these people are sure to want to check out the new “Jurassic World” offering when it hits the big screen next year.

The new film will also feature some recurring themes from “Jurassic World” which helped to make the first installment so successful. This includes the return of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard who will be reprising their roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, as well as Colin Trevorrow on the writing team. To top that off, “Fallen Kingdom” will also see the re-emergence of one of the most popular characters from the earlier films, Dr. Ian Malcolm – played by Jeff Goldblum. With all of these factors in play, Universal Pictures will be quite confident that the new picture can continue raking in massive sums of money at the box office.

“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” has been scheduled for release in the United States on June 22nd, 2018. With the plot involving the eruption of a volcano on Isla Nublar which threatens the remaining dinosaurs on the island, there will be ample opportunity for lots more chaos. This will be sure to please audiences, who just can’t get enough of dinosaurs going out of control.
