Gravitas Ventures Acquires Shocking Thriller “Haze”

Gravitas Ventures has acquired North American rights to filmmaker David Burkman’s highly-anticipated motion picture “Haze.” Written and directed by Burkman, the film stars Kirk Curran, Mike Blejer, Jeremy O’Shea, Kristin Rogers and Sophia Medley. “Haze” will be released theatrically October 13th, followed by a release on all digital platforms October 17th, including Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, Vimeo, Vudu, Microsoft XBOX, YouTube, Cox Communications, Dish, DirecTV, Suddenlink, and Verizon Fios.

In the aftermath of a brutal hazing death, a college freshman’s desire to join a fraternity is threatened when his older brother launches an anti-hazing crusade. “Haze” is a raw, shocking glimpse into a world of institutionalized savagery and into the heart of a young man driven by a desperate need for acceptance and brotherhood.

The deal was negotiated by Chad Miller of Gravitas, and by Amy Beecroft and Adam Levine of Verve on behalf of the filmmakers.

“Haze” was produced by Jayme Aronberg and David Burkman.

“’Haze’ is the kind of smart and timely film the independent moviegoers love and Gravitas is proud to be bringing it to audience nationwide,” says Josh Spector, Director of Acquisitions at Gravitas Ventures.

“Hollywood has always been fascinated with Greek Life, but ever since the seminal Animal House, the genre tends towards comedy, and the depictions of hazing are usually innocuous,” says Burkman, “’Haze’ is an uncompromising look at what really goes on behind fraternity and sorority house walls. We are thrilled to work with Gravitas and their daring team to get this unique film into the world.”

In theaters October 13th
