A former White House Communications Director starts her own crisis management firm only to realize her clients are not the only ones with secrets.

The sixteen episodes that comprise the sixth season of “Scandal” provide us with a hierarchy of showdowns that exposes the vulnerable genes of both Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and her father Rowan (Joe Morton). The beginning of the season is ripe with chaos as Olivia’s campaign to make Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young) President is unsuccessful. Not only does Olivia have to convince Mellie to make the conciliatory phone call to Frankie Vargas (Richard Antonio Chavira) in a timely fashion, but she must also navigate her raw emotions to prepare for the onslaught of haters who have waited patiently for the political climate to take a 180-degree turn.

Before Frankie can plant his feet firmly on the platform to acknowledge acceptance of his Presidency, he is shot at close range and left with fatal injuries. As luck would have it, Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry), who is the next heir to the throne, is immediately framed for the murder of Frankie Vargas. The plot thickens when Rowan is held accountable for the failure of Mellie to win another try at the presidency and his new power-hungry enemies, think they have found his weakest link in order to scare him into submission. Rowan becomes a walking time bomb and when Olivia approaches him for supreme guidance, his ability to react is compromised by his emotional state.

As the season continues, Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) convinces Olivia to marry him but Olivia has become more dedicated than ever to have some sense of self-worth and Fitz realizes that he can’t compete. The marriage lasts two years before they both realize they are better apart than together. Other highlights include Mellie and Cyrus trying to make a go of it together in spite of their differences, Mellie being unable to convince Marcus to stay and work on her team and Quinn Perkins (Katie Lowes) giving it all she’s got to convince Fitz to pardon someone in spite of Olivia’s disapproval. In the final showdown of the season, Khandi Alexander (Maya Lewis) is resurrected from no man’s land still proving that she runs things regardless of constraints.

Season Six in its entirety is a combination of powerful showdowns that separates the prey from the predators and exposes each of the power players at their weakest state. A sampling of titles that best highlight the individual struggles include “Survival of the Fittest,” “Hardball,” “Fates worse than death,” “Extinction,” “Mercy,” “Headgames,” “Tick Tock” and finally, “Transfer of Power.” “Scandal: Season Six,” created by Shonda Rhimes, has all the drama, surprises and paybacks that Scandal fans have come to love and appreciate!

Um, no disrespect intended, you’re reviews are right on, but a 360 turn would basically be just a circle back to the beginning. Maybe a 180?
