Book Review: ‘Thinning The Herd’ Is A Funny, Lighthearted Read

[yasr_overall_rating]

From the New York Times bestselling author of ‘A Rush of Wings’ and ‘The Maker’s Song’ series, a humorous, action-packed urban fantasy about a werewolf pack and an animal control officer in way over his head!

Our intrepid hero is Hal Rupert, Animal Control Officer, and along with his trusty catch pole, he protects the people of Eugene, Oregon. He is a hero and his reputation probably even extends all the way to Portland! He stands between the ordinary and the “others,” werewolves, shape shifters, and all sorts of lurky things that normal people cannot see.

When he starts finding dead hippies and bloody tarot cards, clutched in their hands, he knows a mystery is afoot and with his trusty sidekicks, who just happen to be shape shifters, they discover a god of the forest is trying to awaken the ancient ones. Unfortunately, part of the awakening procedure involves his girlfriend being offered up as a virgin sacrifice. Hell no!

This is a funny, lighthearted look at the realm of the “others,” it is very humorous and has some nice insights but exactly what category would I put it in? I don’t have a clue. I enjoyed it and no brain tissue was damaged during the reading of this book.
