Book Review: “Every Wicked Man’ Is Highly Recommended

When a senator’s son takes his own life and posts the video live online, Agent Bowers is drawn into a complex web of lies that begins to threaten the people he loves the most. As he races to unravel the mystery behind the suicide and a centuries-old code that might help shed light on the case, he finds a dark pathway laced with twists and deadly secrets that touch a little too close to home.

This is my first foray into the world of FBI special agent Patrick Bowers and man extraordinaire. The layers herein take you into the world of faith, belief, terrorism, murder, and suicide and it is a journey that you will not soon forget.

Author Steven James is a very talented writer, a gift that, at times, borders on genius and his writing takes you into the minds of evil, mental decay, and hope, all leaving you breathless.

A young man commits suicide, he is the son of a U.S. Senator and Patrick is asked to take a look at the case. This is where you are trapped inside this story because he does take a look and brings you along with him. He stops to ponder the details and they are brilliantly presented and you find yourself walking the walk with him. The evil is underplayed but when you look deeper, it is heartstopping, scary, and hell is a real place you want these people to end up in.

Patrick is recently married and very deeply in love with his wife, who has a teenage daughter. He is trying to teach her how to drive and the fabric of the story is woven into his personal life and you start having nightmares that they will become involved with the very bad people in the story. However, that is the great thing about being the author, you can take us all wherever you please.

The overall narrative is very well written and you never once tire of trying to solve the riddle of good vs. evil. I highly recommend this book as a great read, it is definitely one for the keeper shelf.
