As a longtime fan of the “Evil Dead” series, including the better-than-it-had-a-right-to-be 2013 remake, I was delighted to hear the announcement that Starz has given the greenlight to a TV show which will serve as a sequel to the original trilogy and will contain ten half-hour episodes that will debut next year. Bruce Campbell will return as the iconic hero Ash while the trilogy’s director Sam Raimi will direct the pilot episode.
“When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons — personal and literal,” Starz said in an announcement today. “Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its ‘Evil’ grip.”
Over the years, fans of the series have waited for the inevitable “Evil Dead 4” and although there were plenty of rumors, nothing solid ever surfaced. When the original trilogy’s creators produced the remake in 2013, fans thought that was the end of Ash and the deadites but now, it looks like he will be back. Groovy!
